British American Tobacco Trading Romania has exciting opportunities for a Country Security Manager Romania, in Bucharest.
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
The objective of this role is to provide continuous, coordinated, comprehensive, business integrated security support services to BAT Romania. Delivery will be based on the Group Security Services Description Document thereby ensuring that security threats to personnel, assets, information and business objectives within Romania are properly identified, evaluated and countered effectively and efficiently.

Geographic Scope: Maintain accountability and oversight of all security issues for BAT entities from SCEA, both Commercial Unit (BAT Trading) and Operations Unit (BAT Investment – Ploiesti Factory).

Your key responsibilities will include:
- PREVENTION
1.1 Security Risk Management
- Provide timely advice based on analysis / assessment of security threats & risks (as per the SRM model) to enable well-informed business decisions.
- Monitor security situation and take proactive measures for minimizing security risks that may have potential to damage business objectives.
1.2 Information Security
- Ensure compliance with BAT Information Security Standard.
- Put in place awareness messages for all employees to ensure full cross-functional commitment to policies through communication and education.
1.3 Business Continuity Management
- Facilitate Business Continuity and Crisis Management processes ensuring that effective crisis management arrangements and BCPs are in place and tested.
- Assess, plan and exercise those BCM plans and activities that are the direct responsibility of Security regarding risks specific to BAT Romania e.g. major earthquake in Romania.
1.4 Fraud Awareness and Prevention
- Work closely with TM&D and Finance ensuring that any control weaknesses are identified and corrected via relevant policies and procedures.
- PROTECTION
2.1 Security of People, Assets & Information
- Conduct security enquiries, investigations and reviews of security breaches.
- Constantly review, implement and maintain effective security practices and procedures to ensure safety and protection of personnel, assets, information and business operational activities.
2.2 Security of People, Assets & Information
- Monitor the effectiveness and performance of 3rd party contracted security services (monitoring, reporting and intervention) for safeguarding the BAT domestic distribution vehicles, property and sales force personnel.
2.3 Anti-Illicit Trade
- Assist the local AIT Project Team in developing the BAT Romania AIT strategy and provide any support in implementation process.
- Maintain the brand protection arrangement in place with Romanian Customs Authority as per the local laws and EC Customs Regulation concerning customs action against goods suspected of infringing certain intellectual property rights.
- Develop and have close liaison with Romanian Police, Customs & Excise and Border Police in the effort to control illicit trade activities and to obtain practical and material assistance for the business.
- RESPONSE
3.1 Fraud Investigation and Control
- Investigate fraud, theft and other losses and provide recommendations for control improvement to prevent further incidents from occurring.
- Report and record all security incidents through SIRA.
3.2 Loss Reporting
- Report losses according to loss reporting guidelines using standardised reporting approved by Audit Committees
What are we looking for?
Experience Required:
- At least 7+ years of previous corporate experience, comprehensive knowledge and experience of security management acquired in the corporate / commercial sector.
- Previous anti-illicit trade related experience, particularly in intelligence and enforcement - experience of dealing with information and intelligence, interpreting threats and risks and management of investigations.
- Established networks across law enforcement agencies in Romania.
Technical / Functional / Leadership Skills Required:
- Integrity, ability to maintain high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Strong leadership, management, and delegation skills.
- Sound judgment, decision making, analytical and organisational skills. Excellent planning, coordination, and reporting skills, with the ability to organise substantial workload comprising complex, diverse tasks, and responsibilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of security management acquired in the corporate / commercial sector.
- Open minded attitude capable of seeking opportunities for innovation and increasing efficiencies.
- Fluent English & Romanian (oral and written)
Education / Qualifications / Certifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, legal or intelligence, or related domains.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Nice to have:
- American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) certificates: Certified Protection Professional - CPP, Physical Security Professional - PSP, Professional Certified Investigator – PCI.
- Security International Institute (SII) certificates: The Security Professional Diploma, The Investigator Professional Diploma, Physical Security Diploma.
